Today, May 12th, is ME awareness day. Myalgic Ence Today, May 12th, is ME awareness day. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is a devastating disease without established treatments or cures. It is not even recognized by the medical professionals easily. The patients already have a lot to self-advocate for their insurance coverage, disability benefits, and so on, on top of their daily suffering from the disease. As a friend of someone with ME, I just want to do something I can do for them. All the proceeds will be donated to Solve ME/CFS Initiative @solve_cfs, a non-profit organization that conducts patient-centered research. Thank you so much to those who purchased the pins at the Makers Market last Saturday. I still have more to sell for fundraising. They are $7 each, and if you live far, I can mail them to you with $5 shipping (sorry, us only) If you live in the Anchorage area, we can coordinate pickups. Please DM me if you are interested. I’m selling forget-me-not pins for $7 each at the Makers Market this Saturday. Local pickup is also available if you can't make it to the Market. May is ME Awareness Month, with ME Awareness Day being on May 12. My sale starts today and will run until the 12th. Have you heard of ME? It stands for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. My dear friend Hollis is affected by ME, which is a chronic illness with no known cure or established treatment. Despite the need for extensive research, studies into ME have been severely underfunded, and many medical professionals lack sufficient knowledge about the illness. If you want to learn more about ME, there are plenty of resources available online. You can also find various Instagram accounts where patients share their experiences to raise awareness. All proceeds from the pin sales will go to The Solve ME/CFS Initiative (Solve M.E.) @solve_cfs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to leading patient-centered studies.
